If I had excess money that was allotted for me for fun and not practicality and I could do anything I would want with it after giving some to the Lord I would…
Spend it all on seeds! Flower seeds, vegitable seeds, fruit seeds, etc.
I’d buy it all from this place

I have this dream of envisioning a house, a place, a garden that just has all these wonderful growing things in it. Beautiful flowers making everything in this often dreary life glad with color. Flowers that would make our eyes light up with vibrancy. Vegetables and sweet fruits that could sustain hunger.
I really want this, but I am dirt poor and am always thinking in practicalities.
Maybe someday in the future. Jehovah Jireh!
Above is an Orangeglo watermelon I am dying to plant. This may be the only purchase I make form Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. I’ve read it produces well and has almost a tropical flavor. Doesn’t that excite you?! I have no clue why it makes me so excited!
-If I have done something a certain way, I want it that way. Don’t change it, lest you stir up my ire.
-Worship leader sermonettes. I came to worship God, not to listen to you tell me what you did yesterday and how you are trying to apply it to the message of the song.
-If I am leading something or explaining something don’t go and tell people to do the opposite or change what I have just said. Again, I want things a certain way.
-Excessively long phone conversations.
-Excessive hisptering. A little bit is fine and goes a long way.
-The ‘I’m too cool for you and what you’re inviting me to’ vibe.
-Introverts who do not talk or ask me questions, thus making me feel like I need to ask an excessive amount of questions to avoid uncomfortable and necessary silence.
-When I am speaking to you, look away from your computer or cell phone and look to my face and address me in sentences that are more than just, “okay.”
-Flakiness
-Tardiness
This list shall be continued.

Most people know by now that I love foods from other countries and will force feed you foreign foods for your own benefit. Strange foods build character and some of you will thank me in the end.
I lived in the Netherlands for 4 months in 2008. The first meal our program directors took us to eat was Pannenkoeken, or Dutch pancakes. They are thin and as big as a huge plate. Not to diminish American pancakes in any way; they are certainly delicious, but dutch pancakes have a glory all their own. The glory of pannenkoeken is that you can put what ever you want on them. Whatever you FREAKIN’ want on them. In America, you are relegated by the cultural pancake mores of using only maple syrup and butter. Occasionally, Karo syrup is allowed. In the Netherlands, they have whole restaurants devoted to pancakes and that offer numerous topping variations. Safer options would be fruit and sugar pancakes, but the risky options would be the vegetables and meat options. You can even get Turkish shawarma meat, yogurt, and pickled onion option. I remember getting a caprese pannekoeken with tomato, mozzarella, basil, and capers. So eet smakelijk!
A couple of weekends ago I bought a pannenkoeken mix in Pella, IA and had a Pannekoeken party yesterday with some Cedar Falls/Waterloo friends. I think it went over quite well. A good topping suggestion is apples, Gouda cheese, butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
For you culinary xenophobes out there, pannekoeken is a very safe, and approachable foreign food. Go for it!
